Colors & Appearance

Choose a color palette, set your Ghost accent color, and configure light or dark appearance in MakerOS.

MakerOS has three independent appearance settings: a color palette, your Ghost accent color, and color mode. Each palette includes light and dark surfaces. Choosing a palette does not change your accent color.

Color Palette

  1. In Ghost Admin, open Settings → Design & branding → Customize.
  2. Select the Theme tab.
  3. Under Site wide, choose a Palette.
  4. Click Save.

The available palettes are:

  • Default
  • Terracotta
  • Developer Emerald
  • Vintage Paper
  • Slumber Navy
  • Signal Blue
  • Deep Teal
  • Citrus
  • Sage Garden
  • Rosé Pine
  • Electric Rose
  • Dark Matter

Accent Color

  1. In the same customization panel, select the Brand tab.
  2. Set your Accent color.
  3. Click Save.

MakerOS uses this color for primary buttons and control focus rings in every palette. Choose a color that keeps button labels easy to read. A palette does not require a specific accent hex value.

Color Mode

In Theme → Site wide, choose a Color mode and save:

  • Auto: Uses the visitor's saved light or dark preference when available. Otherwise, it starts with their system appearance. Visitors can switch between light and dark using the footer toggle.
  • Light: Keeps the site in light mode and hides the footer toggle.
  • Dark: Keeps the site in dark mode and hides the footer toggle.
